Counting Way for the Census Bureau

Created an interactive children’s website for the Census Bureau that was completely 508 accessible. Interface design was illustrated and animated and had multiple links to interactive and accessible games that were also made 508 accessible including an accessible coloring page.

Images show screenshots of several games including a coloring page and a word find.

We added an ‘accessibility’ button in the shape of a traffic sign with a keyboard symbol on it, that provides instructions on how to use shortcuts to access the word find. By using letter keys as shortcuts, the user can navigate through the word find grid, which would first read the direction that the user is going, and then the letters. A special shortcut would read a list of words to be found aloud. Auditory feedback tells the visually impaired user when words are found or not.
